The NLP Practitioner course has been fantastic. I've learned a lot more skills than before.  In the past, I've had a lot to do with psychology, with training people and putting them in certain states for specific situations. This course highlights what I need to do specifically with them.

I work in hostage survival. The likes of me train people for when they go overseas with their companies. I prepare them for if the worst happens and they are kidnapped. I teach them how to behave as a hostage so that they can return with dignity.  Whatever happens to someone in captivity, it will normally remain with them for the rest of their lives in some aspect or other.  So our training prepares them for that, so that they can handle the situations more appropriately and behave in captivity with dignity.  Whatever actions they do while they are in a kidnap situation will be reflected on not only by themselves but also by the public back home.  It's my job to help them deal with stressful situations so they don't have catastrophic thinking. Also, if a rescue happens, they need to know not only what state to put themselves in - but also, physically, what the best place in the room is to go to. They can then regain control of  their situation more appropriately, with the limitations imposed upon them.

The NLP techniques taught by Richard will definitely improve the training we are giving.  We currently use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, relaxation and some psychology - but what Richard specifically teaches is how to achieve desired states quicker and more effectively than we currently do at the moment.

My company, Dignity Hostage Survival Ltd is made up of people who are ex-military, ex-police or ex-anti-kidnap units. They're all people who've been there, seen it and done it. They bring their variety of backdgrounds to the company. I've come on this course to improve our training by making it more focussed.  When I go back more of us will come on these courses.

The whole aim of our work is to prepare people for the worst possible scenario. The training needs to be effective, it needs to be the best it can be.  That's why I came on this course, with Richard and John.
