The Joy of NLP - by Carole Powell

I am writing this on a natural high having attended NLP Life Training’s Practitioner and Master Practitioner Courses in London last week. I was there working with NLP Life Training and also had the wonderful opportunity of sitting in on the fascinating sessions run by the gurus of NLP Dr Richard Bnadler and John LaValle.
Many of you reading this may have attended these courses or may be past delegates. You, then, will no doubt recognise the feeling of euphoria that engulfs every fibre of your being and launches you into the rest of your life with the knowledge that anything is possible when you are in the right state and make the pictures big and bold. If you haven’t trained with Richard and John yet I urge you to do so as it is a privilege to learn from the greatest exponents of NLP in the world.
To be honest, prior to the week working with NLP Life I hadn’t been in a great place. Problems had been mounting and I had some sad news which served to drag me down even further. We all get affected by what life throws at us sometimes and it can seem as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But I can truly say that after this amazing 9 days I have left my sad, dull state behind and moved into a state of happiness filled with sunshine.
Great people help you achieve this transition. A change of environment and company without doubt put me instantly into a better place, but also I was reminded of the power of NLP to programme the mind to think differently – and of course that is exactly what NLP is and does. Stand up, then step into a spot and think of a time when you felt motivated and excited. Notice the submodalities and take that feeling and double it and double it again. Feel great and realise that life looks different now. Anchor that feeling and know that you don’t have to go back to the bad place where things looked bleak – you can stay in the better place where your problems are manageable and life is actually pretty damned good!
My invitation to join the NLP Life team for the week’s seminars was timed to perfection. What it did was lift me out of my low state and propel me into a different place where I now feel motivated and optimistic about the future. Mentally I was standing in one place and although none of my circumstances have changed, I am now standing in another.
As Richard Bandler says, if you look for problems you will surely find them. To be honest I don’t even have to look for them! But if you look for the better place from which to deal with them you will find that too. NLP simply helps us see things differently, feel happier and get more out of life – all we have to do is use it.
