15th May 2009
"May". What a great name for a whole month and what a wonderful ambiguity to play with! Just think for a moment: when I ask you, what the word "May" means to you, do you think of: a) the name of the fifth month of the year; b) a word which means that you haven't decided yet to do something; or c) a word you use to give yourself and others permission to do something?
As you move towards the middle of the year, it's probably time that you had a good old think about "may". Ask yourself - are you using the wrong definition of the word in some of those important areas of your life? Are you using the word to tell yourself that you may well get round to making some changes? That you may get the house painted, may-be get the lawn mowed - or you may make an even more important decision like deciding to take charge of your life and change it for the better?
If that's the version of "may" you're experiencing right now, then take some time to use another definition of the word. Just suppose for a moment that you use the word "may" to give yourself and others permission to do the things that you are currently only thinking of. See yourself, now, considering the things you want to do, and then give yourself the permission you need. It doesn't matter what it is you're considering. Ask yourself: "May I..?" Then answer yourself in a calm clear voice: "Yes, I may." Notice how it feels when you think about the thing you want to do while trying on this new question and answer. If it really does feel good, then it's time you converted your may-be into something a lot more definite!
What type of "month of May" do you want this one to be? Is it the month in which only maybe you'll do something to make things so much better - or the month in which you tell yourself that yes, you may get on and do it! With summer just around the corner, May is the month in which you should give yourself permission to shine!
THIS MONTH'S NEWSLETTER
We've got some great things for you in the Newsletter this month. On 29th April Richard Bandler appeared live on BBC Five Live, being interviewed for a good half hour or more by Simon Mayo. You can find a recording of his appearance here. This is a great interview, in which Richard explains in clear terms the underlying principles of NLP, as well as dealing with some of the criticisms levelled against it. It is really interesting to hear him answer the criticism that "there is no science" to back up NLP. I would strongly recommend this to anyone interested in finding out more about the subject.
We also have a report on the Change Your Life in Three Days experience which took place in Wembley Stadium, and saw the team of Paul McKenna, Richard Bandler and Michael Neill working alongside each other again. The uniqueness of getting these three experts on personal change together on the same stage made it a truly memorable event.
Another experience we have written up is Richard's Freedom From Phobia Day. This was a great success, and Tina Taylor's thoughts on the matter make a fascinating read.
On a very different note, we also have Anne Jirsch describing her strategy for tuning into intuition in her article: How To Install Your Psychic Antennae. It might be fun to see if it works for you!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
There are some great events coming up in the next few months.
The 6th of June sees Paul McKenna return to London to perform his I Can Make You Thin Live Weight Loss Event.
Then, nine days later, Steve Crabb is delivering a Business Practitioner of NLP Course between 15th and 19th of June. Steve is Paul McKenna's Head Assistant and has years of experience in the business and corporate world, having been a director of several multi-million pound companies which he built up from nothing. Steve is uniquely placed to give you an insight unequalled in Britain into business applications of NLP.
